Getting Down In The Valley
In late October I appeared in Webster Book Store's Sunday brunch performance series in State College, Pa. Got a warm reception from the crowd, who looked to be local students. I was in town to help celebrate my dad's 95th birthday. Thank you, Elaine, who found me a last-minute slot in the afternoon. She owns and runs this vibrant, stimulating cultural space--with a cafe, book store, art gallery and performance stage . A real treasure in Nittany Valley.
Our Hearts Go Out ...
... to the friends and families of the victims of the shooting in Las Vegas. That an outdoor concert was the scene of this evil makes the horror even more vivid: My wife and I attended a beautiful gathering on the riverside at the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival just last week. Yes, it could have been any of us music lovers there in Nevada. Almost needless to say, we need tougher gun laws and better mental health programs nationwide.
