“IT’S A FREAK COUNTRY – AND GETTING FREAKIER," DECLARES CRAIG SILVER ON HIS NEW CD
NEW YORK, NY -- It’s A Freak Country is the title of the new ACM Records release by Americana singer/songwriter Craig Silver—and he means it. “We’re the home of the unwanted, we’re the land of the lost” he sings in the title song of the album, which lays out the idea that at our best we’re a unique and welcoming country that’s tolerant of all kinds of people. The album is Silver’s third.
Billboard magazine has said that Silver sings “in the best Phil Ochs tradition.” Bob Sherman, host of WFUV’s legendary Woody’s Children show, calls Silver’s music “very moving.”
Other songs on the CD explore happiness, in “Confetti,” unhappiness, in “Cabin Fever,” perfect love, in “I Won The Lottery” and its opposite, in “Transparent Lover.” With the accompaniment of the Good Morning Nags and other top-notch Americana artists, Silver paints a canvas in song of these lovely, crazy, imperfect times.
Craig Silver, who works and performs in New York area, had his folk rock musical about the internet, Cyberbabies, produced Off Off Broadway last year.
It's A Freak Country is available via all the streaming services, including Spotify and SoundCloud.
